New Phoenix Food Tax Applies to Hotels
According to our recent dialogue with the City of Phoenix, the new 2% food tax that went into effect in April applies to all packaged food, including candy bars and soda. Any candy, soda or other consumable food sold anywhere in the city of Phoenix (including hotel gift shops) is now taxable. Prior to April only prepared foods sold in these establishments was taxable. We will keep you current on additional information on this as we receive clarified language related to our Industry.
